After my risk- reducing surgeries for BRCA1, I longed for a quiet way to honor what I had been through- and the strength it took to make those decisions. I designed a modern, minimal interpretation of a broken gene accented with a heart. It became my way of saying to myself, “I see you. I’m proud of you. You’re still whole.”
When others in the cancer community saw it, they connected instantly. I realized I wasn’t alone- many of us longed for a timeless, beautiful way to express our journeys.
That’s how BrokenGene was born: jewelry created by one of us for all of us- thrivers, survivors, previvors, and allies. - so we can wear our stories with pride.
